1. Did your idea of "homesteading" change
after you read the book? Do you think there is any one description of a homesteader? Do
you consider yourself a homesteader?
2. How is your life different, day to day, than
Sue and Steve's? How is it similar?
3. Did the fictional thread with JJ and CindyLou add to
your enjoyment of the book? Did it get in the way?
4. Did you relate to JJ or CindyLou? Why or why not?
5. Do you think this way of life is practical? What
would happen if "everyone" lived that way, in your community? In your state?
6. Do you know how much of the food you eat is
grown within 100 miles of your home? Within 500 miles?
7. What would happen if you and your community suddenly
had to provide for yourselves? How would your life change? Short term? Long term?
8. What chapters or subjects were most interesting to
you? To read about or to do?
